What you can do

We have done it so why can’t you? Check out this link to learn some useful tips for making your church sustainable.

What you can do

Project Green Church began with a couple of friends sharing their concerns about the state of the environment and their frustration over not being able to make a difference. Since then we have achieved a lot with limited resources in a short time. As individuals we can make a small difference, but as a community we can achieve great change. A great way to start is to make use of the Climate Institute's resouces and get moving on the "Seven Steps to Sustainability".

Make local connections! Find out about community groups in your area who are taking action on environment-related issues, for example, a community garden or a climate action group. Contact your local council and tell them you are planning on making your church sustainable. Ask them if they can offer any assistance. Also, check out Community Builders for information on fundraising and grants.

Throughout this whole process we have received a lot of support from our local council (Randwick City Council) particularly from the sustainability department, and from our local member Peter Garrett. Thankyou so much for your help thus far and we look forward to continued relationships. We have also received a lot of support from people at Synod, Insights magazine, and from the media in general. Everyone just seems like they really want to help. Thank you all and God Bless.

Prayer

God please forgive us for our ignorance and our apathy. Please grant us the courage and the inspiration to make positive changes in this world for the benefit of our generation and those to come. Amen
